Hoplanta IPA

Hoplanta IPA 6.2% ABV
American India
Red Brick Brewing Company

This is a very smooth and refreshing IPA.  It has an initial smooth taste, (PPA*) followed by a nice hoppy bouquet.  I recommend enjoying this beer with some food, if you want to enjoy the hoppy flavor with every sip.  Having a few sips in a row, causes your palate to be overwhelmed and you start to miss the hints and flavors of the beer.  It’s still good without food, but you won’t be enjoying the beer at it’s fullest without a palate cleanser.  I’m a big cheese fan, so I grabbed some cheddar to eat in between sips, definitely did the trick.  I’m sure this would go great with a cheese burger and fries.   A couple of sips and then a bite from your burger, some more sips and then a few fries..  This is a solid beer.  Don’t think I’d ever buy a 12 pack, but maybe a 6 pack.  It would go great with a mix-and-match 6 pack. This is a great beer to try when out at a bar or a restaurant.  I rather like the slogan for this beer, which is on the label, “Hoppier than a bullfrog with a stubbed toe.”

This is one of the offerings of Red Brick Brewing, the oldest continuously operating brewery in the state of Georgia.  Red Brick Brewery was founded 20 years ago on this day (September 29, 1993), in Atlanta, Georgia.     They currently distribute to eight states across the southwest and in 2010 they helped form the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild and started mentoring other craft breweries.

Special thanks to my sister and her husband. They got me a variety 12 pack of microbrews for my birthday, which included this beer.

*PPA stands for Pretentious Prick Alert.  This acronym will appear before the use of highfalutin words that make it look like I know what I’m talking about, when in actuality I have no clue what I’m talking about.
